Spider support

Spider supports are the connection elements between the supporting structure and articulated screws (rotules
Available versions
  • 150 mm Distance between centers (Astra and Aura)
  • 220 mm Distance between centers (Vega and Vela)
  • Material: Aisi 316 L stainless steel
  • Finish: Electro-polished (other finishes on request)
Capacity for combination of loads 200 Kgs. per arm (800 Kgs. for 4-arm support).
Load resistance values were calculated in the design phase with FEM calculation system and subsequently guaranteed by tests carried out by internationally recognized institutes (certificates available on request).

| Combinations of load
The accessories for punctual structural glass façades are subject to different load combinations:
A Perpendicular load charges (wind pressure or snow load)
B Glass load that gives a shearing force on the articulated screws (rotules) and so a parallel stress on the glass pane;
C Additional tension due to thermic expansion in case the fixing system is too constrained.

For this reason the support has different types of hole.
The purpose of different drilling typologies on the support arm is to absorb the various expansion and stress of the glass and further to give more regulation during the installation.

| Drilling type A
Scheme shows drilling type A which has on the top left arm a 15 mm diameter hole that doesn’t allows any movement of the articulated screw and fix strongly the glass to the structure; on the top right arm has a slot hole that allows the sliding on the horizontal axis; the two bottom arms have 20 mm diameter holes that allow expansion on vertical and oblique axis.
According to the position of the support into the facade, designer may require different types of holes.
Using different holes typology, deformation of the glass are controlled and risk of creating break points between the glass sheets is reduced.
